Have you forgotten your Bank Verification Number (BVN) and don’t want the stress of going to the bank to retrieve it? Worry not. In this post, we’ll guide you on how to effortlessly check your BVN using just your mobile phone.

Whether you’re with any bank or on any network, this convenient method works seamlessly, saving you time and stress. Let’s delve into the simple steps to retrieve your BVN and stay connected with your banking details at your fingertips.

What is BVN?

BVN stands for Bank Verification Number. It is a biometric identification system implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to enhance security in the banking sector. The BVN is a unique 11-digit number assigned to individuals with bank accounts in Nigeria, helping to curb illegal banking transactions and fraud by providing a reliable means of identity verification.

The Central Bank of Nigeria launched the use of BVN in February 2014 to stop financial fraud in the banking system, especially among politicians and Yahoo boys.

You can always get your BVN from your bank, but to save yourself the stress of going to your bank, there is a code for checking your BVN on your phone. Please note that your Bank Verification Number is visible to all banks in Nigeria, irrespective of the account type.

As we mentioned earlier, the main reason for the introduction of BVN by the Central Bank of Nigeria is to stop financial theft and fraud.

How to enroll for BVN

Enrolling for BVN is free of charge. All you need to do is visit any bank of your choice. It is advisable to enroll for BVN at the bank where you have an account.

If you don’t have a bank account, walk into any bank of your choice and follow these procedures:

1. Ask for the BVN enrollment form.

2. Fill the form with your correct information.

3. Submit the filled form to the personnel.

4. Wait until you present your biometric fingerprints data.

5. Finally, collect your enrollment receipt.

Congratulations! In a few minutes, you will receive a text message containing your 11-digit BVN.
