What is the NYSC Senate List?

The NYSC Senate List is an official list of graduates from Nigerian higher institutions who have been approved by their institutions to participate in the NYSC program.

This list is prepared by Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs), which include:

  • Universities
  • Polytechnics
  • Colleges of Education

Only graduates whose names appear on the senate list are eligible to complete the NYSC online registration process.

Before checking the senate list, it is also advisable to confirm that your name appears on the JAMB matriculation list, as this is another important requirement for NYSC mobilization.

How to Check NYSC Senate List for Batch A, B and C

Follow these steps to verify your name on the NYSC Senate List portal.

  1. Visit the official NYSC portal.
  2. Click on the “Check Senate List” option.
  3. Select your Institution.
  4. Enter your Matriculation Number.
  5. Enter your Surname.
  6. Select your Date of Birth.
  7. Click “Search” to view your senate list status.

If your name appears, you will be able to proceed with NYSC registration and mobilization.

What “No Record Found” Means

If the portal displays “No Record Found”, it means your name has not yet been uploaded to the NYSC Senate List.

This could happen for several reasons:

  • Your institution has not uploaded your details yet.
  • Your clearance process has not been completed.
  • Your name is not on the institutional senate approval list.
  • Your record has not been forwarded to NYSC.

You can read more about this issue here: Why you see “No Record Found” on the NYSC Senate List portal

What to Do If Your Name Is Not on the Senate List

If your name is missing from the senate list, you will not be able to register for the NYSC program.

To resolve this issue:

  • Visit your institution’s Student Affairs Division.
  • Confirm that your name was approved by the academic senate.
  • Ensure your institution has uploaded your details to NYSC.
  • Confirm your name appears on the JAMB Matriculation List.

Most issues are resolved once the institution updates and resubmits the list.

Foreign-Trained Graduates and NYSC Senate List

The NYSC Senate List only applies to graduates who studied within Nigeria.

If you studied outside Nigeria, you are classified as a foreign-trained graduate. Instead of appearing on the senate list, you must complete a separate verification process.

Foreign-trained graduates are required to obtain an NYSC evaluation letter before they can proceed with registration.

Steps to Be Added to the NYSC Senate List

To ensure your name appears on the NYSC Senate List, follow these steps:

  1. Complete your final clearance with your institution.
  2. Register with the Directorate of Students’ Affairs in your school.
  3. Confirm your name appears on the institutional senate approval list.
  4. Ensure your name is on the JAMB matriculation list.

Once these steps are completed, your institution will forward your details to NYSC for mobilization.

  1. Sir, can’t I make amends to my date of birth..I.e..reduction…I need to serve my father’s land.

    • Yes, but you can only import the age on your WAEC result to your NYSC profile. But if the age on your WAEC result is also above 30, then there is nothing to do.

    • If you are above 30 years, during online registration, NYSC will exemption. So your name being on Matriculation list and Senate list is not a guarantee to serve.
