In a new campaign that began on November 1st, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) is now sending Key Change Tokens (KCTs) to upgrade Standard Transfer Specification (STS) prepaid meters after they have been linked with the National Identification Number (NIN).
To obtain the two unique 20-digit tokens (KTCs) for upgrading your meter, you will need to link your NIN to your meter at smartkyc.ikejaelectric.com/nin.
How To Link Your NIN To Your Prepaid Meter
Here are the steps to link your NIN to your prepaid meter:
-
Step 1: Hit the “Link your NIN And Meter” button.
To start the process, visit the official website of Ikeja Electric and look for the “Link your NIN And Meter” button. Click on it, and you will be redirected to a dedicated portal for the NIN linking process.
-
Step 2: Have your Phone Number, NIN, and Email Address ready.
Before you begin, make sure you have your phone number, NIN, and email address readily available. Double-check the accuracy of your NIN to ensure that the information you provide is correct.
-
Step 3: Confirm that you have entered the correct NIN details.
Once you have clicked the designated button, the portal will prompt you to enter your phone number, NIN, and email address. Take a moment to review the information you have entered and confirm the accuracy of your NIN details.
Please proceed to the next step only when you are confident that the information provided is accurate.
-
Step 4: Enter Your Meter Number and Verification Code
In the next and final phase of the process, you will be prompted to enter your meter number and a verification code. The verification code will be sent to the email address or linked mobile number you provided earlier. Please check your email or message inbox for the code and enter it in the designated field.
Please be careful when entering your meter number and verification code to avoid any mistakes. Hit it off the “submit” button to advance to the final step.
Conclusion
You have successfully connected your NIN to your prepaid meter with Ikeja Electric.
To load energy onto your prepaid meter, you need two sets of 20-digit tokens. Purchase any amount of energy to receive these tokens.
You will receive three different tokens to upload to your meter. Enter KTC1 first, followed by KTC2, and finally, enter your energy token.
Note: Only landlords can use a single NIN to register multiple meters. Tenants can only link their NIN to one meter.
