Apply For FG Bilateral Education Agreement Scholarship For Nigerians 2024/2025

The Honourable Minister of Education (HME), Prof. Tahir Mamman OON, SAN, is inviting interested and qualified Nigerians to apply for the 2024/2025 Federal Government Scholarship Awards. The scholarship is available for the following programs:

  1. Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA):
  2. i) Undergraduate (UG) studies in Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt, and Algeria.
  3. ii) Postgraduate (PG) studies in Russia (for those who obtained their first degrees from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania.

To apply for the scholarship, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Federal Ministry of Education’s website at https://www.education.gov.ng and click on the Federal Scholarship Board ICON on the Home Page.
  2. Read the Guidelines and complete the Application Form online.
  3. Print the completed Application Form.

Fields of study available for the scholarship include:

  1. Undergraduate level: Engineering, Geology, Agriculture, Sciences, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences, Sports, Law, Social Sciences, Biotechnology, Architecture, Medicine (limited slots), Pilot Engineering, Neurologist.
  2. Postgraduate level (Masters Degree and PhD): All fields.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Undergraduate Scholarships:

– Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WASSCE/WAEC (May/June), in subjects relevant to their fields of study, including English Language and Mathematics.

– Certificates should not be more than two (2) years old (2022 & 2023) for Non-African Countries, and one year (2023) for African countries.

– The age limit is from 17 to 20 years.

  1. Postgraduate Scholarships:

– Applicants must hold a First Degree with a 1st Class or at least 2nd Class Upper Division.

– Previous recipients of Foreign Awards must have at least two (2) years of post-qualification experience or employment practice in Nigeria.

All applicants must have completed the N.Y.S.C. Programme. The age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.

There are two requirements for applicants:

  1. i) Only N.Y.S.C discharge or exemption certificates are accepted.
  2. ii) Applicants must provide evidence of readiness to be released by an employer.

Here are some general notes for all applicants:

  1. i) Since the BEA countries do not speak English, applicants should be prepared to take a mandatory one-year foreign language course in the country of their choice, which will be the standard medium of instruction.
  2. ii) For candidates applying for Bachelor in Imamat, Quran Teaching Professor, and Imam Preacher Training for Islamic Religious studies in Algeria, the required certificate is WASSCE/WAEC, and no other certificate will be accepted.

iii) Applicants for the Hungarian Scholarship can apply for up to two fields of study in order of preference. They must visit the website www.stipendiumhungaricum.hu, which was opened in the middle of November and will close on January 16, 2024, to complete the application form online.

  1. vi) Applicants for Russia should visit the website https://education-in-russia.com, which is currently open.

All applicants for the Russian Postgraduate Scholarship must have obtained their first degree in Russia. All documents should be uploaded on the Russian Application portal and must be scanned properly in PDF format. Applicants are required to upload the following certificates online:

  1. UNDERGRADUATE (UG): WAEC/WASSCE, Birth Certificate, Indigene letter.
  2. POSTGRADUATE (PG): 1st Degree Certificate, Birth Certificate, WAEC/WASSCE, Indigene letter, and NYSC discharge Certificate.

Note: Candidates nominated by the Board must submit the following to the Federal Scholarship Board:

  1. i) Authenticated copies of academic certificates.
  2. ii) Data page of the current International passport.

iii) Specified Medical Reports from Government hospitals.

  1. iv) National Identification Number (NIN).
  2. v) Police Clearance Certificate if necessary.
