Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) which is the regulatory body bestowed with the rights by federal government to monitor and control the activities of all telecommunications industry in the country, is calling on interested Nigerian undergraduates to apply for its 2021 National Essay Competition.
The 2021 edition happens to be the third time the NCC has/will be organizing such competition, and this year’s own is tagged ‘5G Technology Opportunities and Challenges’ which is also the topic to be deliberated on.
The following objectives will be focused on;
- Building Nigerian undergraduates capacity in the various higher institutions.

Bring about maximum awareness on 5th Generation (5G) technology.

Provide appropriate research, and engagement.

Support excellence among undergraduates by bringing forth academic competitions.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be in any of the public or private tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
- Application form which is readily available on the NCC website must be properly filled and signed by the Dean of the each participants.
- Plagiarism test will be done on all submitted essays (To ensure that only original essays are enrolled).
- Participants with qualified essays will be called to defend their work, of which failure to defend will result to disqualification.
Assessment criteria for the competition
The following criteria will be used to access submitted Essays;
- A minimum of five hundred (500) words, and a maximum of one thousand (1,000) words is expected from participants who will be participating.

Each submission must contain an Abstract, Introduction, body of essay, and conclusion, otherwise won’t be accepted.

There must be reference on each submission.

The Grammar used, structure, and content of each entry will be used to scrutinize each entry.

Submitted essay must be in PDF format, as any other formats won’t be accepted.
Prizes to be won
The winners will be given;
First Position: The first position will be given a brand-new Laptop, a Printer and Five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) cash.
Second Position: The person to come out second will be going home with three hundred thousand naira (N300,000) cash prize.
Third Position: The participant to come out second will be awarded with the sum of two hundred thousand naira (N200,000).

Note: The winners (1st to 3rd positions) will be made known by Monday 13th of September, 2021.
