1. Taliban
The Taliban, (refers to itself as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan), is a Deobandi Islamist movement. They were removed from power in Afghanistan by US led coalition forces in 2001. After 20 years, the group has seized control of the country once again following a rapid military offensive.
2. ISIS
ISIS, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, is a heavily armed group and former unrecognized proto-state that follows a Salafi jihadist doctrine. ISIS is a deadly terrorist organization that terrorises Syria, and many other countries of the world.
3. Boko Haram
Boko Haram, which ranked the 3rd deadliest group in the world, is a terrorist group based in the northeastern part of Nigeria. The group also actively operates in Chad, Niger and northern Cameroon. In 2016, the group split, resulting in the emergence of a hostile faction known as the Islamic State of West Africa Province. The group is affiliated with ISIS.
4. Al-Shabaab
This terrorist group is an Islamic jihadist fundamentalist militant group based in East Africa and Yemen. Ahmed Abdi Godane, the leader of the group, imposed a ban on the UN World Food Programme and Western Agencies in Somalia in 2009.
5. Fulani herdsmen
