The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) introduced the program as a means of providing the volunteers with economic opportunity.
An Exited volunteer who chose to be anonymous showed his anger towards the disengagement of Batch A and B beneficiaries since May 2020.
According to him, they were engaged 2016 and 2017 respectively and ever since they were disengage they barely meet up with their needs.
“The ministry launched a portal for the disengaged beneficiaries to apply for their exit package which FG promised after they served under the scheme for three (3) good years.”
“The five hundred thousand (500,000) Exited beneficiaries were promised loans while registering via the Nexit portal, but still such promise is yet to be fulfilled.”
“Hon. Sadiya U. Farouq promised to handle the case of about fourteen thousand (14,000) beneficiaries who were owed five months stipend. But still they didn’t receive it.”
He went further to say that “The disengagement of five hundred thousand beneficiaries/volunteers from the Npower scheme can be part of the reasons we’re having issues of insecurities in the country.”
“For the possibilities of jobless youth going into criminal act is high, and still going high on daily basis.”
“This therefore means that the minister’s management of the affairs, abuse of office, and corruption has added towards the state of insecurity in the Northern parts of the country.”
“Why will the FG used and dump us?” He lamented. For he believes the promise really got all exited beneficiary hopeful.
He concluded by saying beneficiaries of the scheme contributed to the success of this current government during the last election.
Comr. Bashir Gobir who is the National President of the Exited volunteers confirmed the anger inside of them.
He said the FG through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has failed to fulfil the promise given to them by June/July 2020.
According to the President, several disengaged volunteer has being calling and sending messages via WhatsApp regarding this promise.
The situation has made him uncomfortable, and wondered why such will be coming from the office of the Minister and the government of the Federation.
The promise is over a year now, and the Exited volunteers still wish the loan is given to them.
