ALIWA Youth Program For Young Nigerians 2021-2022

Are you a young Nigerian between the ages of 20 and 30 with interest in holding a leadership position in the future? Are you seeking mentorship to prepare you for the task that awaits you as a future African leader? If your answer is yes then, here is an opportunity to be a part of ALIWA Youth Leadership Program (AYLP).

This collaboration between the Africa Leadership Initiative West Africa (ALIWA) and the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Abuja aims to strengthen leadership capacity, promote active citizenship, and mobilize grassroot influence by Nigerian youth at the community and state levels.

About ALIWA Youth Leadership Program

The ALIWA Youth Leadership Program (AYLP) Nigeria, which is aimed at Nigerians aged 20 to 30, is a 9-month leadership development program that aims to equip participants with the skills they need to succeed with the knowledge and skills they need to build their leadership capabilities and achieve greater societal impact. Participants are challenged to consider their own values and views, as well as those that contribute to a good society, more critically and profoundly. We expect participants to leave this program with new insights as they face our country’s difficult challenges and decisions, as it is both thought-provoking and practical.

The ALIWA Leadership Program’s Goals and Benefits

The program session is a virtual program that will last for nine (9) months. Each cohort will bring together a diverse collection of people for vibrant, in-depth roundtable discussions in moderated seminars, as well as opportunities to act.

The program is divided into three sections:

  • Three (3) months of orientation with ALIWA Fellows moderating seminars.
  • A three-month vacation to put what you’ve learned and learned abilities into practice. Participants will be overseen and matched with mentors, and will be assigned additional readings as well as individual or group projects.
  • A last three (3) months of moderated seminars to reinforce the previous six months’ experience and prepare participants to be change agents and leaders for the rest of their lives.

ALIWA Leadership Program Qualification Requirements

  • At the time of nomination, young adults (ages 20 to 30)
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and a genuine commitment to serving others in their communities
  • Ability to engage on complex and diverse text
  • Nigerians are welcome to apply.
  • Prepare to devote time and energy to the program’s content.
