NYSC Change of Date of Birth and Course is the process through which prospective corps members can rectify inaccuracies in their personal information, specifically their date of birth and course of study, as recorded during National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) registration. Discrepancies in these details can pose challenges during the mobilization process.
The change can be initiated through these three main avenues:
1. NYSC Portal
Prospective corps members can use the NYSC portal to correct their date of birth. This involves purchasing a ‘WAEC Results Check PIN’ from designated banks, logging into the NYSC dashboard, and navigating to the “Change Date of Birth” section. This system works by importing the date of birth from the WAEC profile.
2. NYSC Orientation Camp or Secretariat
Corrections can be made at the NYSC orientation camp or secretariat. This involves gathering necessary documents such as the NYSC Call-Up Letter, Statement of Result/Certificate of Graduation, and a sworn affidavit affirming the correct details. This method is advised to be completed before reaching the orientation camp.
3. JAMB Office
Since NYSC uses information submitted to JAMB to determine the date of birth, applicants can initiate changes at the JAMB office. By visiting the nearest JAMB office and requesting a change in the date of birth, followed by informing the Students Affairs Directorate in their school about the updated date of birth, applicants can ensure the correction reflects in NYSC records.
Note: It’s crucial to address these discrepancies before reaching the orientation camp, as corrections made at the camp may involve additional procedures and documentation. NYSC emphasizes the importance of accuracy in personal information, and graduates are encouraged to follow the prescribed procedures to ensure a smooth and accurate registration process.
How to correct wrong date of Birth through NYSC portal
Here are the steps:
1. Go to the official NYSC website at portal.nysc.org.ng.
2. Log in to your dashboard.
3. Click on the Date of Birth link.
4. Enter WAEC Verification PIN, WAEC Type, Year of exam, and Examination Number.
4. Click Verify, then choose to submit or cancel.
How to Apply for Change Course of Study
1. Log in and click on the Correction of Course of Study link.
2. Select the correct Course of Study.
3. Click SUBMIT.
You may want to check the Senate List or equivalents for verification OR View the graduation list to confirm your status.
Follow these steps carefully for a successful correction process. Keep in mind that information from WAEC is no longer used immediately, so use the provided steps to submit the necessary details. Stay informed by checking the official NYSC website for updates.
Note: you cannot edit your date of birth once it is entered into your NYSC profile. The NYSC system imports the date of birth from your WAEC profile, which is why they require the WAEC Result Verification PIN. If your date of birth on your WAEC profile is incorrect, unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to change it.
Exemption due to age mistakes
If you have been exempted due to an error in your date of birth, you can follow the methods mentioned earlier to rectify the issue by importing your WAEC Date of Birth to your NYSC profile.
However, if your date of birth in your WAEC record indicates that you are above 30-year age limit and NYSC exempts you based on your age, I regret to inform you that the aforementioned methods may not be applicable. This is because even if NYSC imports your age from your WAEC data, the calculated age will still exceed 30 years.
Please note that modifying your age through the NYSC portal does not guarantee that you can provide any desired age. The process does not work that way.
NYSC’s approach is more like this: “If you claim to be below 30 years of age or if there is a discrepancy in your date of birth, they will cross-reference your information with your WAEC data for verification.”
Solution for exemption due to age, and WAEC age still above 30
There is no solution for that unless your Institution will help you out, which is against NYSC ethics. NYSC is seriously against age manipulation, so if NYSC find out that your school is manipulating age of their candidates, they will ban them from taking part in the program.
Tips to successfully manipulate date of birth for NYSC mobilization
Warning: the information that I’m are about to disclose now is for educational purpose only. I will not be held responsible if you use it for other purposes.
Since, NYSC calculate age from the information gotten from JAMB, you can do JAMB Regularization to reduce your age on your JAMB profile. Just go to JAMB office and specifically tell them that you want to change your age through regularization.
Once the regularization is completed and you your data validated, then go back to your school and inform them about the change. Your school will update your data on the NYSC portal. Once it is done, bumm! You are good to go.
Conclusion
It’s important to note that the specific process and requirements for correcting the Date of Birth may vary slightly, so it’s always recommended to refer to the official NYSC website or contact NYSC directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Thanks man. Just left camp 20A batch, actually my date of birth is 25/12/1993. But what I saw on my NYSC dashboard is 26/12/1993. What should I do, bcoz I did fresh regularization when I told the guy about it he said it was going to change back to 25th but right now am still seeing 26th
Mr. Humphery is it possible for one who has regustered with NYSC and is been exempted, do a Jamb regularization to reduce the age and submit to his school. Would he be mobilized again with the new one?
Yes, you can try that way
How will I know my date of birth hv been corrected or will I re-print my green card slip?
You will receive email from NYSC
Hello. I have a common issue with a mistake on my D.O.B and the option of using WAEC result to correct is not working. I want exemptions coz I already made a career decision that won’t give me time to serve. If I click on change DOB on the NYSC portal it just shows the guideline and that’s all

And you are not rejoicing? 1989 can lead to exemption but 1997 is a green ticket to serve. You should be rejoicing unless you are seeking exemption.

What is in my Ward cert is my surname, first name and an abbreviation of my middle name (O) and what is in my nysc is the 3 names in full….when changing the date of birth, will it also import my names the way it was written in WAEC
Hello, thanks. My problem is that the wrong date of birth is what is written in my WAEC(GCE) cert… And that was what I used in sch , how do I make such corrections? Will I have to go to Waec office? That’s the age I used to do 100lvl, final year clearance and everything. How do you advise that I resolve this, cause it made me a year older than I actually am. I was thinking of swearing an affidavit along with my birth certificate as proof after I’m done with NYSC
You can only correct it from WAEC office but I don’t think that is possible though.
I did regularization so as to change my course of study. My issue now is that that their is omission of my middle name, incorrect date of birth and incorrect local government.
My concern is now that will the regularization did of recent rectify those error in name, date of birth and local government through the details given when doing regularization.
Thanks in anticipation.
Please, go to the nearest JAMB office to make this enquiry.
