This is the biography of Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja. She is a well respected lawyer in the Nigerian high court, a legal practitioner and human rights activist, hails from the northern part of Nigeria. Binta Nyako has been in the field of fighting for peace and justice. She is well-known for her legal expertise in criminal, constitutional, and human rights matters.
However, it wasn’t easy for Binta Nyako all this while trying to maintain her good position and impartiality in law, especially under the pressure from Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the Federal Government ably led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Justice Binta Nyako Biography
Binta Nyako was born on May 14, 1959 in Remawa Local Government, Kastsina State. She was raised by a low-income family who managed to earn a living.
Meanwhile, she grew up and attended school in Bauchi. She had to go through numerous challenges to gain experience, which led to the success of her profession today. As a result of their unbalanced financial life, her parents have to hawk around the street with fruit in order to train her in school.
She obtained her first leaving certificate in 1976 after attending Queen’s College, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria. Before proceeding to Ahmedu Bello University Zaria, where she studied law and graduated with an LLB Degree.
She began admiring a year course after her National Youth Service Corps program at the Bauchi Ministry of Justice, which she added to her honor after service at the same university she graduated from. Binta Nyako was called to Bar on August 29, 1986, after obtaining her LB degree.
However, she hasn’t allowed her background to be an obstacle to her breakthrough. She also received an honor from the same university she attended for being a member of several legal bodies, including the Nigerian Bar Association, Bauchi State Bar Association, and the Bauchi State Justice Committee. She has worked in numerous places before establishing herself as one of Nigeria’s most respected lawyers.
Working experience
As Binta grew with her profession, she first worked as a research assistant at the Bauchi state ministry of Justice from the period of 1982 – 1988, including her service there as the Bauchi Judiciary from 1989 – 1995. All of her working experience was done in Bauchi state, right down to her period as the Bauchi legal head council from 2004 – 2006.

She is the fourth wife of the former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako. However, prior to meeting Murtala, she had two children with her ex-husband while living in Bauchi, who are still with their father, and she is also likely to be a grandmother of two or more, which she has not yet revealed because she prefers to keep her private life private.
Binta Nyako Controversies
Following the case of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, she was appointed to serve as the trial judge for Kanu. However, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused her of displaying judicial rascality and impunity in the way she is handling the case of their leader.
Nnamdi Kanu had alongside his lawyers protested the refusal of the Department of State Security (DSS) to allow some of his lawyers access into the court, particularly the lawyer from the USA, Bruce Fein. However, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lead counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, has moved to ask Justice Binta Nyako to recuse herself from the trial of his client.
Meanwhile, the Igbo leaders accused Binta Nyako of trying to destroy the peace and unity of Nigeria after they have been denied the access to witness Nnamdi Kanu’s case in court.
