THE COMPULSORY NYSC SCHEME SHOULD NOT BE SCRAPPED.THE NYSC SCHEME IS A NATIONAL HERITAGE AND A SYMBOL OF NIGERIA’S UNITY.
THE SCHEME WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1973 BY THE THEN HEAD OF STATE GEN.YAKUBU GOWON(RTD) IN A BID TO RECONSTRUCT, RECONCILE AND REBUILD THE COUNTRY AFTER THE NIGERIAN CIVIL WAR.
THE SCHEME WHICH IS SET UP BY DECREE NO 24 OF MAY 22,1973 SEEKS THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMON TIES AMONG NIGERIAN YOUTHS AND THE PROMOTION OF NATIONAL UNITY.
THE NYSC SCHEME SHOULD BE PROTECED AND PRESERVED SINCE ITS OBJECTIVE WAS TO PROMOTE NATIONAL UNITY AMONG NIGERIA’S WHICH IT WAS FULFILLING.
THE NYSC SCHEME IS FULFILLING ITS MANDATE AND NOTHING SHOULD HAMPER ITS OPERATION,IF ANYTHING IT MUST BE GUARDED JEALOUSLY.
THE SCHEME WAS SET UP TO ACHIEVE A TARGET OF FOSTERING UNITY AMONG THE ETHNIC TRIBES IN NIGERIA WHICH IT HAS BEEN PERFORMING TO A LARGE EXTENT.
I WILL NOT IN ANYWAY SUPPORT ITS SCRAPPING BECAUSE ASIDE THAT OF UNITY,IT ALSO HELPS THE YOUTH TO TRAVEL TO OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY.
ORDINARILY SOME OF THE YOUTH WOULDN’T HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TRAVEL TO THOSE PLACES,SAVE THE SCHEME.
BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY,IT ENABLES YOUTHS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY THE OPPORTUNITY TO INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER IN RESPECTIVE OF YOUR ETHICS/TRIBES/CULTURE

    THANKS GOD BLESS ALL

Yes, it will be happening, if you see the programme, it have less benefit and consumed more money and government tired and this covid 19 will post government to scrapped it to some years.

  3. Aribisala Joshua Oluwatoyosi

NYSC shouldn’t be scrabbled. In my own opinion, NYSC is a scheme that brings the youth together (different tribes etc), it gives us the hope that there is a better Nigeria. Hence, the NYSC has given a greater opportunity to youth learn, unlearn and relearn, the youth are given to expression and a lively hope.

Nysc should not be scrapped because it contribute to the life of corps member majorly after service by the skill acquisition program they have acquired in the camp. It prepare them for the life after service.thanks

  5. Kelechi ikpeama

Nysc shouldn’t be scrapped but should be improved upon because that’s one of the pillar still holding this great country of ours together. It helps graduates of different tribes to mingle together; learn different ethic language’s and culture as long as your a graduate nysc doesn’t mind if you graduated with Bsc or HND everyone is seen equally in camp for the harmony of peace unity and progress of the country on this note I will say that scraping out nysc will give room for proper division of the country which will end up causing more harm to the people than good especially graduates

Nysc should not be scrapped because it contribute to the life of corps member majorly after service by the skill acquisition program they have acquired in the camp. It prepare them for the life after service.thanjs

  7. In my opinion, I don’t think NYSC should be scrapped because it provide an avenue for the youths that’s the graduate to be expose to the culture of the three major ethnic groups/ three distign culture in the country.
It’s also provide a good avenue for some graduate to be employed at there place of primary assignment at the end of their service.
So this few points I mentioned I don’t think NYSC should be scrapped with following reasons mentioned above.
    Thanks
    Alfred Sunday

  8. ABUBAKAR ATTAHIRU

No, it should not be scraped, because every Nigerian youth that has an opportunity to attend the Nigerian or other country university would have knowledge to impact to the Nation, Thanks.

  9. Awowole Sola Abiola

God bless the initiator of this group, this group has really been helpful as am able to give my friends breaking news even before they hear or see it from somewhere else. God bless u and more knowledge

  10. Usman Y Abuabkar

The amount one thousand for giveaway is too small, atleast give back to society that so much gives and still giving you😳😳😳

  11. Aminu Miracle Ifeolu

Absolutely No! At least not as at this time. I’ll give my reasons below.
Among many things that’s wrong in Nigeria, don’t let me even get started on that, NYSC is the one good thing happening right now, and NYSC offers graduates jobs for at least a year albeit most being teaching jobs. Although most schools are taking advantage of the corps member, but if you’re smart enough, hard working and with an iota of good luck and God’s Mercy, NYSC can be a means to a better future for you. Am not saying that everything is perfect about the NYSC Scheme, but trust me when I say Nigerian graduates will suffer more without it.
Until every sector of the country starts making sense and good and gainful employments are available, why should a source of income be thrown away without a viable alternative? Wisdom dictates that you settle down for something till something better comes along. For hundreds of thousands of youths that graduates yearly from Nigerian institutions with no hope of a job after finishing school, NYSC is a life saver!

  12. Uduak John Samuel

No! it shouldn’t because it promotes peace and unity of the country and economic growth system from the new theoretical framework learned in school

  13. Bakpo Rose kponaryie

Nysc shouldn’t be scrapped. Reasons been that it helps people to know about other tribe, people’s cultures. Secondly in our country today we lack employment opportunities, many who have undergone this program have been able to save some money from the little allowances they’ve been receiving.and as such they were able to start a small business which is keeping them going. While they are still scanning for job. In this case I think scrapping nysc will do more harm than good to our graduate thanks.

  14. Before I make my suggestion what is the meaning of NYSc. National youth service Corp indeed what is Nigeria most bigest problem National unity if NYSc is scrape tell me what makes Nigeria a unity state for the common reason for peace and unity I strongly said NYSc should not be scrape

  15. Ekuma Chukwunonyerem

Nysc was created with a view of harmonizing the youths, and creating a sense of responsibility in them, and also a way of bridging the gap created by ethnicity, and ensuring the stability of “one nigeria”. But that has not been the case lately. I believe that the scheme should be completely reformed to address the relevance of the youth even after service.
    1. The issue of posting should be addressed because nigeria labour market have upped their conditions, and this scheme should help equip youths with skills needed for the world of work, rather than posting youths in institutions outside their specialization.
    2. The saed program should be properly reviewed with stakeholders.
    3. The scheme should consistently be reviewed so as to be abreast changes in the society, there should be dynamism.
    4. There should be money set aside as a kind of support for outgoing corp members to help them establish themselves to certain extent
Youths are assets to the growth of any nation. With a reform in the scheme, the youths will gain relevance, and country will thrive.
    God bless Nigeria

  16. Nysc should not be scrapped because it helps the youth financial, atleast it still the allowance given still fill some space

  17. Alarape abdulmalik opeyemi

Nysc should not be scrapped because
1- it enable the youth to learn about different cultures language and environment
2- it make a corper to develop themselves academically
3- it makes the youth to boost their Cv
4- it makes youth to connect with different people thereby making them to secure employment, some of them
even found their life partner during service year for this reason nysc should not be abolish.

  18. Alhassan Ibrahim Arome

it should not be scrapped because it helps youth (corp members) To save up enough fund to start up a business after service,Help youths to become Entrepreneurs and also reduce the rate of unemployment in Nigeria. Thank you

  19. Joshua shadrack

In my own opinion, NYSC is the best thing The government has ever did in an attempt to fight ethnic crisis and regional barrier. Not to talk of the impact corpers make especially those sent to schools and the rest . it should rather be improved and not to be scrapped as the increment of allowances prove the best way of doing it. This is because, the rumor going about that some youths especially from the high class citizens do not want to go for NYSC. i think the silly excuses they give all revolves on the scantiness of the allowance. Therefore, the government should do anything possible to preserve the culture to a greater height.
