Peter Okoye of Psquare: A Look at Mr. P Solo Journey since Splitting from His Brother

Known in the world of musical entertainment as Mr. P, Peter Okoye is a songwriter, Multi-instrumentalist, social activist, chorographer, singer and record producer. He emerged in the Nigerian music scene in the year 2000 as a member of the popular but now defunct music group, Psquare, a group he co-owned with Paul Okoye, his twin brother. Since they parted company, however, Peter has gone on a solo career journey and is doing well for himself, with several albums and collaborations with other top industry players, to his credit.

While it hasn’t been an easy journey for him as a solo artist, Mr. P’s commitment to succeed has helped him live above the unceremonious parting of company with twin brother. From being the Peter of Psquare to becoming the Mr. P of Mr. P, he has accomplished a lot for which he deserves commendation.

Unceremonious Split of Psquare

Peter Okoye of Psquare

From the beginning of their music career as twins, it was clear to all their fans that there was love between the two music stars, as they did almost everything in unity. They even got luxurious houses for themselves in the U.S states of Atlanta and Georgia, and in other locations around the world. Unfortunately, controversy struck because, as they say, whatever has a beginning must have an end. They had private issues like all humans but, sadly, they could not resolve their difference and separation happened. The breakup was because of a disagreement over their manager. It was said that Peter wanted their elder brother Jude Okoye to resign his position, but Paul objected to the idea. Later, Peter ended his association with the Psquare brand by submitting his resignation letter to the group.
