Jack Agu, known popularly as Runtown, is a Nigerian R & B, Afro-Fusion, Hip-Hop, and Reggae singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and music producer. He is 31 years who has earned himself a fortune through diverse businesses that cut across the world of entertainment and brand ambassadorial services to multi-national companies. Runtown’s Biography
Runtown hails from Enugu state, Nigeria, and he was born on 19th August 1989 in South East Nigeria. As a little boy, he relocated to Lagos because of his father’s ailment. Later, he was on the move again and this time, to FCT Abuja with his mother, after his father died as he couldn’t make it through the ailment. Again, the family moved from Abuja to Enugu State, his home state, in 2005. Runtown attended different schools because of his constant relocation. Parts of the places he schooled include Lagos, Enugu, and New York. Although details of his education remain scanty, but we understand he attended St. Augustine’s Seminary Ezzamgbo, and a fashion school in the New York, United States, where he reportedly studied Fashion management.
Runtown had a dream of becoming a professional basketball player, but later decided to pursue a career in music in 2007, learning from the likes of J-Martins, who has collaborated with him and Phyno in his album – Tonight. Following the release of his song, Forever, in mid-2010, his popularity grew wider and bigger. He followed up on the fame he was gaining by releasing more songs and collaborating with other top artists, some of which include Bella Shmurda, Nasty C and sarkodie.

Runtown and Phyno’s Penthauze
In 2011, Runtown reached a great milestone after he became one of the first musicians under the record label when it was officially launched. Although many grapevines had it then that he co-owned the record label with the Fada-Fada crooner. His first hit singles are ‘Activity Pikin and ‘Pary Like its 1980’ in 2008. In 2014, he hit even higher popularity after he featured Davido in Gallardo, hitting 12 million views on YouTube alone. Shortly after, he was signed up by Eric-Manny Entertainment record label, but in 2018, he pulled out of the multi-million naira contract after he was accused of breach of contractual terms in signing up for concerts without the label’s knowledge.
