How To Apply For Corps Members To Serve In Your Organization

Do you want the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to post Corps members to your organization? If ‘yes’, you are on the right page. This post will guide you on how to apply for Corps members to serve in your organization or firm.

So, if you have a company where you need the service of NYSC members, there is a procedure to request for that. And we are here to show you the process. Just get a bottle of drink for yourself as you read between the lines.

Whether or not you have taken Corps members before, you need to always submit a request letter to NYSC, so they would know the number you need. To request for a corps member is not a difficult task.

There are two types of request you can make:

• Special Request: this is a type of request asking NYSC to post a particular Corps member (stating the name and state code) to your organization.
• Ordinary Request: When you don’t know any Corps member in particular. You just want NYSC to post suitable corps members to your organization.

How to apply for Corps Members to serve in your organization

Follow the procedures below to request for a corps member for your organization;

1. Ensure your organization is registered with Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC).

2. Your organization must be suitable for graduates to work. NYSC value their Corps members,  and won’t post them to do undignified jobs. For example; washing of plates, working in your farm, restaurants, pushing truck or other boi boi works.

3. You must be ready to provide good accommodation for corps members, must be in a hygienic and secured environment.

4. Write a request letter to NYSC asking for specific corps members. The letter is to be addressed to the NYSC state coordinator in that state.

5. Take the request letter to the NYSC Orientation Camp, the security men at the gate will direct you to the right office or you can submit through the LGI or Li at the NYSC office in your local government council. See NYSC should prepare for resumption of orientation Camp – FG.

Note: If you are applying for the first, NYSC is likely to send an inspector to assess the environment of your organization before they can post their corps members.

Note: If you are requesting for a Corps member that studied a specific course, you can indicate, but make sure the discipline is suitable to your organization.

For example, a secondary cannot be requesting for a medical doctor or engineer to teach in the class room. Just be careful because NYSC may turn down your request.
