The Maritime Academy of Nigeria invites appropriate and qualified applicants to apply for admission to the Academy’s different Higher National Diploma (HND) Programs for the Academic Session 2021/2022.

HND Courses and Duration at the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN)

Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes last two (2) years and are split into four (4) semesters. The following courses are available:

  1. Nautical Science
  2. Marine Engineering
  3. Maritime Transport and Business Management

HND Admission Requirements at the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN)

Candidates for admission to the Academy must have a working electronic mail address (E-mail) as well as a mobile phone number.

Nautical Science

  1. Applicants must have a Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in the following subjects:
  • Mathematics
  • English Language,
  • Physics
  • Geography,
  • or any other related Science subjects obtained in not more than two sittings.
  1. Applicants must have a National Diploma Certificate in Nautical Science from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or another approved institution registered with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) (JAMB). Candidates must also possess a JAMB registration number.

  2. Applicants must have obtained a minimum of one year of cognate work experience in a relevant organisation or have completed a minimum of one year of post-ND Industrial Training with evidence.

  3. Candidates with a PASS at the National Diploma level from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or another approved school must have completed two years of post-ND industrial training with evidence or two years of related job experience in a relevant organisation.

Marine Engineering

  1. Applicants must have a Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in topics that must include:
  • Mathematics
  • English Language,
  • Physics,
  • Chemistry,
  • Or any other related Science subjects obtained in not more than two sittings
  1. Applicants must have a National Diploma Certificate in Marine Engineering from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria or any approved institution registered with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 2.50 (Lower Credit) (JAMB). Candidates must also possess a JAMB registration number.

  2. Applicants must have obtained a minimum of one year of cognate work experience in a relevant organisation or completed a minimum of one year of post-ND Industrial Training with evidence.

How to Apply

Candidates who meet the requirements should visit the Academy’s website at www.maritimeacademy.gov.ng and complete the following steps:

  1. Select Admission – HND/ND Registration Portal from the drop-down menu.
  2. Make a User Account
  3. Make a payment slip and print it.
  4. Pay through the eTranzact Payment Platform or pay online at any of the banks listed on the portal.
  5. Complete the Registration Form by returning to the Academy Portal.

Advise

All aspiring cadets who are financially obligated to the Academy must pay off their debt before applying.

Candidates who do not finish their registration will be disqualified automatically.

Drug misuse, bullying, and any other form of social aggression are not tolerated at the Academy. Applicants who are found to be ineligible will have their cadet ship taken away.
