The Africa Institute is seeking proposals from novels, short story writers, playwrights, poets, and scriptwriters who are interested in writing about Africa and the African diaspora for the Tejumola Olaniyan Creative Writers-in-Residence Fellowship in 2022.

The Africa Institute Creative Writers-in-Residence Fellowship’s Goals and Benefits
The Africa Institute’s publications program will provide recipients with the opportunity to publish their works. Projects involving theatre and film screenplays might be published as texts or receive assistance in putting on shows. The project can be fresh or in progress, and it must be realistic to complete during the residence duration.
Requirements Qualification For The Fellowship
Novelists, short story writers, playwrights, poets, and scriptwriters with a connection to Africa and the African diaspora are welcome to apply.
The project proposal can be written in Arabic or English (other languages will be considered). Recipients are invited to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, for a three-month residency to complete their work.
Interview Dates, Process, and Location
The Africa Institute will analyze all applications with the help of a committee of well-known writers. Three grantees will be chosen based on the quality of their proposal and their demonstrated ability to complete the residence within the period.

- A two-page description of the project to be completed during the residency, its significance, and an estimated completion date.
- A selection of published and unpublished works.
