About Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is a Nigerian law enforcement organisation tasked with investigating financial crimes such advance fee fraud and money laundering. The EFCC was founded in 2003, partly in response to criticism from the Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering, which designated Nigeria as one of 23 countries that refused to cooperate in international efforts to combat money laundering. The agency’s headquarters are in Abuja, Nigeria.

Qualification Criteria for the EFCC Essay Contest
Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the competition:
- Being Nigerian is a unique experience.
- Submit an essay on the topic provided.
- A 1000-word essay is required.
Persons from the media, academia, and civil society organisations will make up the judging panel.
Three winners will be chosen and invited to Abuja on December 9, 2021 for the grand finale and prize presentation to commemorate the “International Anti-Corruption Day 2021.”
